Delhi Police seizes CCTV digital video recorder from Kejriwal's residence

A Delhi Police team reached the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on Sunday in connection with its investigation in the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, sources said. They said the police team collected electronic devices including CCTV DVR (digital video recorder) to potentially get the footage of the alleged assault on Maliwal on May 13 when Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal's close aide, allegedly attacked her at the CM's residence. Maliwal has alleged that the CCTV footage of the CM's residence was being tampered with. Kumar was arrested on Saturday and produced in a court which remanded him in five-day police custody. The sources said Kumar is evasive in his replies during his interrogation. The Delhi Police booked Kumar for molestation and attempted culpable homicide after Maliwal's complaint. Security beefed at BJP HQ over AAP's protest, traffic advisory issued

The Delhi Police has beefed up security at the BJP headquarters here in view of a protest announced by AAP's national convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal there on Sunday, officials said. The traffic police has also issued an advisory in view of the protest planned outside the BJP office on the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. "In view of the proposed protest by a political party at DDU Marg Delhi, Traffic will remain heavy at DDU Marg, IP Marg, Minto Road and Vikas Marg. DDU marg may be closed for traffic movement between 11 am to 2 pm. Kindly avoid these roads and plan your journey accordingly," the traffic police in a post on X. NewsClick case: Delhi court directs Purkayastha not to tamper with evidence

A Delhi Court on Wednesday directed NewsClick founder and editor-in-chief Prabir Purkayastha, accused in a case of allegedly receiving money to peddle pro-China propaganda through its stories, to not comment on the merits of the case or tamper with the evidence. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Hardeep Kaur imposed the condition while issuing the release order for Purkayastha in pursuance of the Supreme Court order passed earlier on Wednesday, declaring his arrest in the case as "invalid in the eyes of law". The ASJ directed the accused to submit a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of like amount in the case lodged under the anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He was arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police on October 3. The judge further directed Purkayastha not to contact any witnesses or approver, Amit Chakravarty, in the case. Unclaimed bag found near Delhi's Connaught Place; nothing suspicious found

Two days after security scare over an unclaimed bag in Connaught Place, another similar bag has been found at the national capital's commercial hub on Monday, officials said. They said nothing suspicious was found inside the bag but the owner is yet to be traced. According to the officials, the Delhi Fire Service received a call at 1 pm regarding an unclaimed bag and two fire tenders were immediately pressed into service. The local police cordoned off the area near K Block and the Bomb Detection Squad was also called, they said. Police said the bag contained some clothes and it is suspected that somebody left it on the footpath. Another unclaimed bag with clothes was found near N Block in Connaught Place on Saturday. That bag was found to belong to a student and the police had handed it over to him.

Delhi Police busts two manufacturing units making adulterated spices

Two manufacturing units of adulterated spices allegedly operating in the city's Karawal Nagar area were busted and three persons were arrested for it, police said on Sunday. Fifteen tonnes of adulterated Indian spices and raw material were recovered from their possession, they said. Dilip Singh (46), Sarfaraj (32), and Khurseed Malik (42) were identified as the accused. Police said that they received a tip-off that some manufacturers or shopkeepers in northeast Delhi are involved in manufacturing and selling adulterated Indian spices under the name of brands. "We formed a team to investigate the matter and on May 1, our teams got more information about the units that are running in Karawal Nagar area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Pawariya said. The officer further said that teams conducted a raid and Dilip and Khursheed were apprehended. Dilip told police that he is the owner of the manufacturing unit and Khursheed informed that he was the supplier of the adultera
