IndiGo adds flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai from Lucknow airport from July 12

IndiGo will add two non-stop daily flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai from the Lucknow airport starting July 12, officials said on Friday. After the flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai are added both onward and return the average international flights at the airport will increase from 13 to 17 flights per day, a Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) spokesperson said in a statement. "Abu Dhabi will be the new destination for Indigo from Lucknow, while the airline will be re-starting its operations to Dubai from July 12. Last month, Lucknow airport added two flights to Dammam and with addition of four flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai from next month, the total average international flights will go up to 17 from 13 flights per day," CCSIA said. The daily non-stop flight from Lucknow airport to Abu Dhabi will depart at 18.20 hrs and the Abu Dhabi to Lucknow flight will arrive at 03.25 hrs. The founder of one of the largest private sector health insurers Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd Venkatasamy Jagannathan has tendered his resignation from its Board with immediate effect, industry sources said on Sunday. An industry veteran, Jagannathan had stepped down from his role as the Chairman of the city-headquartered firm in May. Odisha govt wants to boost tourism with launch of direct Int'l flights

With the launch of direct flights connecting Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Bangkok and Singapore under the Viability Gap Funding scheme, the Odisha government is hopeful of doubling its foreign tourist arrivals in the state by 2025 from its pre-pandemic levels, a tourism official said on Monday. A "Viability Gap Funding" (VGF) is a government grant provided to airlines to bridge the gap between the cost of operations and expected revenues. "The target is to double the foreign tourist arrivals by 2025 to 2.5 lakh from the pre-Covid peak of 1.2 lakh witnessed in 2019," Sachin Jadhav, Director of Tourism Odisha, said. India has emerged as a key source country for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Dubai, one of the wealthiest of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates, according to a report released on Monday. Gem export promotion council launches India jewellery exhibition in Dubai

Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council on Tuesday launched India Jewellery Exposition Centre, a 365-day exhibition platform, in Dubai to commemorate the first anniversary of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. "CEPA is one of the most ambitious pacts. India's exports to UAE have exceeded USD 30 billion, with gems and jewellery and plastics deriving benefits from lower-priced inputs. GJEPC (Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council) has set up IJEX and I see tremendous value in such initiatives. 612,000 Indians visited Dubai during Jan-Mar quarter, up by 62% YoY

Dubai hosted 6.12 lakh visitors from India during the January-March quarter this year, a sharp uptick of 62.76 per cent compared to the same period last year, Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) said. The Middle East country had hosted 3.76 lakh visitors from India during the corresponding quarter in 2022, according to the latest data published by DET. Overall, Dubai welcomed 46.7 lakh international overnight visitors in the first quarter of 2023, compared to 39.7 lakh tourists during the same period in 2022, marking a 17 per cent YoY growth. Air India increases number of daily flights to Dubai from Delhi, Mumbai

Air India on Wednesday said it has increased the number of daily flights to Dubai from the national capital and Mumbai as part of the network alignment process between the airline and Air India Express. In the current summer schedule, Air India has ramped up frequency to operate up to 10x daily flights between Delhi and Dubai in both directions, including a new flight that will start from April 29. Between Mumbai and Dubai, the airline now operates up to 6x daily flights in both directions. For most of the week, this means eight flights a day each way to Dubai from the cities, it said in a release. Dubai-bound aircraft catches fire in engine after taking off from Nepal

A Fly Dubai aircraft with nearly 150 people on board on Monday reported fire in one of its engines soon after taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport here, according to airport sources. The aircraft heading towards Dubai returned back and was trying to force land at the airport, they said. Fire engines are kept on alert at the airport, according to sources. Indigo announces flight services to Dubai from Bhubaneswar from May 15

No-frills carrier IndiGo on Saturday announced starting flight services to Dubai from Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport on May 15 and unveiled plans to connect Odisha's capital city with Singapore and Bangkok going forward. Rs 2.6 crore worth diamond fragments seized from Dubai-bound flyers

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized diamond capsule fragments worth Rs 2.6 crore from two passengers at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), official sources said on Monday. The DRI sleuths, with the help of CISF personnel at the airport, confiscated the diamonds from two passengers, Anas and Amar from Bhatkal, as they were about to fly to Dubai on Saturday, DRI sources said. Acting on a tip-off, the DRI sleuths found two packets of diamond capsules hidden in the shoes of one of the passengers during an intensive physical check at the immigration counter.
