JBM Auto on Wednesday launched its first self-designed and self-manufactured electric luxury coach 'Galaxy' here at Auto Expo 2023. The company, a part of USD 2.2 billion JBM group, also showcased its new series of e-buses, including city bus, staff bus and school bus. Expanding the company's offering in the emerging electric vehicle segment, JBM Auto Vice Chairman Nishant Arya said it will grow "exponentially" over the next few years. "The new range of electric buses will address the growing market requirements, especially the fleet owners, who are looking for sustainable, safe, reliable and profitable solutions," said Arya. However, the company did not disclose the price of the coach. Currently, 1,000 JBM electric buses are plying in 12 states. "JBM group is the only player in the Indian market to offer an entire EV ecosystem and is committed to investing in green mobility solutions," Arya added. Besides, JBM Auto will invest in upgrading manufacturing capacity and setting up

Tesla is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles in the US because a software glitch can make taillights go off intermittently, increasing the risk of a collision. Tesla said in documents posted Saturday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the glitch may affect one or both taillights on certain Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Brake lamps, backup lamps and turn signal lamps are not affected by the software problem, the company said. The automaker said it is releasing an online software update that will fix the problem. The recall covers certain 2020 to 2023 Model Y SUVs and 2023 Model 3 sedans. That amounts to potentially 321,628 vehicles. Tesla became aware of the problem last month after receiving complaints, primarily from customers outside the US, that their vehicle taillamps were not illuminating. The company completed an investigation into the problem earlier this month. Owners will be notified by letter starting January 14. The company says in documents

Spanish carmaker SEAT said on Wednesday that it plans to build Spain's first electric car battery plant as part of a 10-billion-euro investment in the country's electric car initiative. The Spanish government said last year that it would convert the country's car manufacturing industry, the second-largest in Europe, with funds from the European Union's post-pandemic recovery plan. SEAT, which is part of the Volkswagen Group, plans to build the battery plant in Sagunto, a town near the eastern city of Valencia. The company said the Volkswagen Group would also electrify SEAT's existing car plants in the northern city of Pamplona and Martorell, a town near Barcelona. SEAT President Wayne Griffiths said the 10 billion-euro investment would allow the company to make electric cars for both domestic sales and the European export market. SEAT had already committed to producing an electric car in the 20,000- to 25,000-euro (USD 20,000-25,000) range. This project will democratise access to

A new NASA-funded technology for future space missions may charge an electric car in just five minutes on Earth, paving the way for increased adoption of such vehicles, the US space agency said. Researchers at Purdue University, US developed the Flow Boiling and Condensation Experiment (FBCE) to enable two-phase fluid flow and heat transfer experiments to be conducted in the long-duration microgravity environment on the International Space Station (ISS). The new "subcooled flow boiling" technique results in greatly improved heat transfer effectiveness compared to other approaches and could be used to control the temperatures of future systems in space. This technology can also have applications on Earth: It could make owning an electric car more appealing, the researchers said. Currently, charging times vary widely, from 20 minutes at a station alongside a roadway to hours using an at-home charging station. Lengthy charging times and charger location are both cited as major concer
