Tiger Shroff firing: Maharashtra CM vows action against accused, handlers

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the Mumbai Police would track down those involved in the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff and their handlers, asserting that such acts would not be tolerated. The police have obtained important leads about the identification of the accused and will arrest them soon, Fadnavis told reporters in Nagpur. The accused were operating from outside Maharashtra, possibly from abroad, he said, adding that the police would coordinate with other states and seek assistance from central agencies to track them down. Volvo Buses India on Wednesday said it has secured an order from the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to supply 200 buses, including 30 sleeper buses. The order is the single-largest for Volvo Buses in India and marks a significant commitment to strengthening premium intercity public transportation in the state, the company said. "This landmark order reflects our shared commitment to elevating travel and making premium passenger experiences more accessible for the citizens of Maharashtra," said Suresh Chettiar, Executive Vice President, Bus Division, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. The order comprises 170 seater buses and 30 sleeper buses, the company said. The Maharashtra government on Saturday declared drought in 265 of its 358 talukas, or 74 per cent of the state, amid rainfall deficit and announced relief measures, including crop loan restructuring, land revenue concessions, and power bill subsidies. The Maharashtra government on Monday approved the recruitment of 5,012 assistant professors in non-government aided senior colleges, introducing mandatory CCTV recording of the entire interview process to ensure transparency. As per a Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department, the posts had been approved based on student-strength and workload calculations as of October 2025 across state public universities. The Maharashtra government has imposed a one-year ban on the manufacture and sale of "analogue" or non-dairy paneer in view of public health concerns and widespread violations of food safety norms, officials said on Wednesday. Offenders could face life imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh, as per a recent government order. Maharashtra is the second state after Chhattisgarh to impose such a ban. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it found that several hotels, restaurants, caterers and other food establishments were using analogue paneer in place of conventional paneer without disclosing the substitution on menus, invoices or display boards. Restaurants and eateries across Maharashtra are now required to clearly inform customers whether the "paneer" served in dishes is genuine cottage cheese or a substitute, officials said on Friday. The state Food and Drug Administration's March 20 directive, which came into effect on Thursday, was issued to ensure transparency and prevent consumers from being misled by the use of cheaper non-dairy alternatives instead of paneer. As per the directive, all food businesses, including restaurants, hotels, caterers and fast-food outlets, must explicitly disclose the use of substitutes, commonly known as cheese analogues, on their menus, bills and display boards, an official said.
