NSE, BSE say functioning remains normal; unaffected by Microsoft outage

Country's leading stock exchanges NSE and BSE on Friday said they are not impacted due to the global outage of Microsoft systems amid reports of disruptions in functioning of several airlines, banks, media outlets worldwide. Microsoft users globally, several in India, have reported massive outages in services, with outage tracking website Downdetector showing users flagging disruptions across various services. Meanwhile, the two leading Indian stock exchanges announced that they are not impacted due to Microsoft outage. "NSE (National Stock Exchange) and NCL (NSE Clearing Ltd) are working normal today," NSE's spokesperson said in a statement. Separately, a spokerseron of BSE said that the bourse is "not impacted due to Microsoft issue. Our operations are running normal." Microsoft Corporation India's profit rises 30% at Rs 649 cr in 2022-23

Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd posted a 30 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 649 crore in 2022-23, according to financial data provided by business intelligence platform Tofler. The company had reported a profit after tax of Rs 498.23 crore in 2021-22. As per the data, the company gained about Rs 409.6 crore in profit before tax by enhancing estimated useful life of server and network equipment from four years to six years. In 2022-23, Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd posted a 39 per cent increase in revenues at Rs 19,354 crore as against Rs 13,819.57 crore in the year-ago period, Tofler said. "The company further reported a net profit of Rs 649 crore during the same fiscal. This is a 30 per cent increase from the last financial year. The company's total expenses for the fiscal were reported as Rs 18,472 crore," it said. The company declined to comment on the financial numbers.

Ex-wife charged with murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan

The ex-wife of a Microsoft executive who was gunned down by a triggerman in front of his young daughter has been charged with first-degree murder, and prosecutors in Florida plan to seek the death penalty. A grand jury indicted Shanna Lee Gardner in the ambush-style death of Jared Bridegan, State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced Thursday at a news conference in Jacksonville, Florida. Gardner, 36, was arrested in West Richland, Washington, and will be extradited to Florida to stand trial, Nelson said.
