Noida farmers hold protest march, meeting with police yields no outcome

Thousands of farmers from around 100 villages of Noida and Greater Noida on Thursday took to the streets seeking hiked compensation for lands acquired by the government, bringing traffic to a standstill in several parts of Delhi-NCR as they made an unsuccessful bid to march towards Parliament. The farmers have decided to continue their protest outside the offices of the Noida and Greater Noida authorities in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Their decision came after a meeting with police and the district administration, which, they said, did not yield any outcome. "The Parliament session ends this weekend and if we get no resolution to our issues in the next meeting, we will attempt a Delhi march once again," a Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) member told PTI on Thursday night. Noida, Gr Noida register residential property of Rs 3,179 cr in Dec quarter

Noida and Greater Noida have witnessed 7,481 property registrations worth Rs 3,179 crore in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to data by online real estate platform Square Yards. The data is based on the property registered by the Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Uttar Pradesh, the platform said in a statement on Wednesday. In Noida, 247 properties worth Rs 157 crore were registered in 'Noida Central' during the period, while 205 units valued at Rs 109 crore were registered on Noida Expressway, the data showed. As many as 6,366 properties worth Rs 2,643.7 crore were registered in Greater Noida West, also known as Noida Extension, and 643 units were registered in the 'Yamuna Expressway' area, the data showed. Among developers, Nirala World led with the registry of 371 units amounting to Rs 203 crore, followed by Ace Group with 259 registrations totalling Rs 181 crore in the October-December 2023 quarter, Square Yards said. GNIDA plans to allot 44 industrial plots, expects Rs 5,000 cr revenue

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority on Wednesday said it has launched a scheme for allotment of 44 industrial plots and expects Rs 5,000 crore in revenue. The land allotment for industries will also generate 10,000 employment opportunities, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) said in a statement. These plots are located in six sectors and cover areas ranging from 135 square metres to 20,354 square metres, it said. "Greater Noida has emerged as a hub of industrial investment. Keeping in view the demand and need of entrepreneurs, the scheme has been launched. Possession of the plot will be given within the stipulated time. With this, thousands of youngsters will get employment opportunities along with investment in the region," GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar said. 'Samsung plans to start making laptops at its Noida factory this year'

Korean electronics major Samsung plans to start manufacturing laptops at its Noida factory in India this year, a senior company official said on Monday. Terming India as its important manufacturing base, Samsung Electronics President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business TM Roh told reporters here that the preparation for the laptop manufacturing is in progress in India. "We will start manufacturing laptops this year at the Noida factory. Preparations are already underway," said the official, who is on an India visit. Ram temple consecration: Public holiday in Noida govt offices, schools

Monday will be observed as a public holiday at all government establishments, including offices, schools and colleges, in Noida and Greater Noida, according to an official order. The holiday has been announced on account of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. "In view of the event on January 22, it has been declared a public holiday in Uttar Pradesh under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881," Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said in the order. Verma separately told PTI that government offices and other establishments like educational institutions will observe a day off on Monday. "However, private organisations and commercial facilities are open to take a decision on their own," he said. Greater Noida may soon enter into a 'Sister City' agreement with the US' Loudoun County, in a move that can open the way for large-scale investment, academic and cultural exchanges between them, officials said. Classes from nursery to 8 in all schools of Noida and Greater Noida will start at 10 am from January 18 on account of cold weather conditions, officials said on Wednesday. This timing would continue until further orders from the district administration, Gautam Buddh Nagar Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar said. "In compliance with the instructions given by the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, in view of the dense fog and extreme cold, classes in all schools from nursery to 8 will be conducted from 10 am from January 18 till further orders," Panwar stated in the order. All schools in Noida and Greater Noida should remain closed for students up to Class 8 till January 6, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration ordered on Tuesday amid severe cold weather conditions in the district. The order is largely directed at some private schools where classes are still running, an official said, adding all government schools are observing winter break till January 14. "In compliance with the instructions given in public interest by District Magistrate Gautam Buddh Nagar Maneesh Kumar Verma due to severe cold and dense fog, there will be holiday till January 6 in the schools (from class nursery to 8) recognized by all boards. Housing sales in Gurugram up 13% in 2023; down 7-8% in Noida: Anarock

Housing sales in Gurugram rose by 13 per cent annually in 2023 on high demand, especially for luxury flats, but Noida and Greater Noida saw a 7-8 per cent fall, according to Anarock data on the Delhi NCR market. Real estate consultant Anarock's data showed that sales of residential properties in Gurugram went up 13 per cent to 36,970 in 2023 from 32,615 units in the previous year. However, sales in Noida fell 8 per cent to 5,840 units from 6,360 units. Greater Noida saw a 7 per cent drop in sales to 10,180 units from 10,985 units. Ghaziabad, too, witnessed a fall of 8 per cent to 6,340 units from 6,890 units. The total housing sales in Faridabad, Delhi and Bhiwadi decreased to 6,295 units during 2023 from 6,860 units in the previous year. Overall, the Delhi-NCR saw only a marginal growth of 3 per cent in housing sales to 65,625 units during 2023 from 63,710 units in the previous year.
