Former Congress leader P C Chacko, who quit the party last week, joined the Nationalist Congress Party on Tuesday and said he was happy to be part of a "functional, active party with a direction".
Chacko, who was a former working committee member of the Congress, is the second senior leader to quit the national party after Jyotiraditya Scindia.
'There is no democracy left in Congress. Candidate list has not been discussed with the state Congress committee. I have sent my resignation to Sonia Gandhi,' said Chacko
