Whatsapp-based ticket service launched for Mumbai's metro lines 2A and 7

The MMMOCL on Friday launched a Whatsapp-based "eco-friendly" ticketing service for passengers of metro rail lines 2A and 7 in Mumbai, an official said. Metro line 2A is from Andheri West to Dahisar and runs on the new link road, while line 7 is from Andheri East to Dahisar on Western Express Highway. The two lines were launched in April 2022 and serve passengers in the north-west part of the metropolis. In a release, Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited said, "This innovative service, now available to passengers on Metro Lines 2A and 7, allows commuters to purchase tickets directly through Whatsapp, eliminating the need for paper tickets and providing a seamless, user-friendly experience." Former BBC news anchor Huw Edwards, once one of the most prominent media figures in Britain, was given a suspended prison sentence on Monday for indecent images of children on his phone. Edwards, 63, pleaded guilty in Westminster Magistrates' Court in July to three counts of making indecent images of children, a charge related to photos sent to him on the WhatsApp messaging service by a convicted pedophile. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring sentenced Edwards to a six-month prison term suspended for two years. It is not an exaggeration to say your long-earned reputation is in tatters, Goldspring said.
