Reliance Jio is planning India’s first home-grown LEO satellite broadband constellation with around 1,600 satellites. The project has received a technical approval from India’s space regulator IN-SPACe, allowing it to move ahead in the regulatory process. The network aims to provide high-speed internet, especially in remote areas, with a proposed capacity of 4.5 to 5 terabits per second. If deployed, it could boost India’s space communication capabilities and compete with global players like Starlink.
