Misbah-ul-Haq on Tuesday offered to step down from Pakistan's national selection committee after the PCB made sweeping changes to the Test squad and team management during the ongoing England tour without consulting him.
Misbah's offer came a day after the PCB issued a notice to members of the national selection committee, seeking an explanation for the selection process adopted for the England tour, a reliable source in the board said.
"The selectors have been told to explain on what basis Muhammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were picked in the Test squad," the source said.
Asad Shafiq and Aqib Javed are the other members of the committee.
Misbah, a former Pakistan captain who has worked in various capacities in the PCB since late 2019, was reportedly unhappy with the notice as well as the board's decision to make changes to the touring squad without consulting or informing him.

India A will play three four-day matches against New Zealand A in Christchurch from October 24, New Zealand Cricket announced on Tuesday.
The series will be part of India's build-up to the two-Test series against New Zealand later in the tour, with the A side's matches preceding the senior team's red-ball assignment.
The fixtures were announced as part of New Zealand Cricket's domestic red-ball schedule for the Plunket Shield.
"The domestic red ball summer will also get an injection of international class as New Zealand A host India A for three four-day matches in Christchurch starting October 24," NZC said on its website.
India are scheduled to tour New Zealand in October-November for five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests.
The two-Test series will begin in Wellington from November 19-23, followed by the second Test in Christchurch from November 27-December 1.
India are currently ranked fifth in the World Test Championship points table, while New Zealand are third.

Amrutanjan Health Care plans to set up 1 lakh direct chemist outlets in the current fiscal year to boost growth, following strong performance in pain management and women's hygiene categories in FY26, according to the company's annual report.
The company's focus is to increase distribution touchpoints beyond its strong markets in the south and east, its Chairman and Managing Director S Sambhu Prasad said in the report.
"Our stated goal of achieving 1,00,000 direct chemist outlets will be achieved in FY27, and we wish to further increase overall reach and availability of our brands beyond our traditional strong markets," he said.
Amrutanjan Health Care added 44,000 new chemist outlets during FY26 and continues to widen distribution in new markets while deepening penetration in existing strongholds.
In FY26, pain management and women's hygiene categories were the drivers of growth, led by Amrutanjan and Comfy.

Jindal Stainless is enhancing its annual capacity of coin blanks by 20 per cent to 12,000 tonnes as the company anticipates growth in demand for non-paper based currency across various geographies, a senior company official said.
"Many would not know that we manufacture coins blanks for Indian Mint as well as various international mints," Vijay Bindlish, the Unit Head of Jindal Stainless Hisar facility said in a joint management interaction.
Coin blanks are produced at the country's largest stainless steel maker's Special Products Division (SPD) in Hisar under high security arrangements, along with other high-end finished products such as razor blades and precision strips, the official told PTI.
Sharing details of the business, Bindlish said the company supplies unstamped coins to Indian, French, Finnish, Polish, Dutch, UK's Royal Mint, Malaysian and Slovak mints.

Former India captain Sunil Chhetri admitted he feels "a little jealous" watching the current generation get an opportunity to face footballing giants Brazil and Uruguay, saying he never got a chance to play against teams of such stature during his long international career.
Chhetri, who was the face of Indian football for more than two decades before retiring from international football, said the prospect of India taking on top-ranked opposition was exciting but also made him envious as a spectator.
"I feel a little jealous as a spectator. In my 24-26 years as a professional and nearly 20 years with the national team, I never got an opportunity like this," Chhetri told the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred with Uzbekistan's highest honour for foreign leaders 'Oliy Darajali Do'stlik' Order, which he dedicated to the "enduring" bond between India and Uzbekistan.
Modi is in Uzbekistan on a two-day visit to bolster ties in a range of areas including trade, clean energy and connectivity.
The prime minister was conferred with the honour by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
