Who is L Murugan?

Loganathan Murugan is an Indian politician and BJP leader. He is currently serving as the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting & Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He is a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh.
 
Murugan was born in 1977 in Tamil Nadu’s western district of Namakkal. He is an Advocate and Agriculturist by profession as he has studied P.G. Diploma in I.P.R., LL.B., LL.M. (International Law), Ph.D. (in law) Educated at University of Madras, Chennai (Tamil Nadu).
 
In 2020, he famously held ‘Vel Yatra’ for BJP in Tamil Nadu despite the state government not allowing it due to Covid related restrictions.
 
He was first elected to Rajya Sabha in 2021 and then for the second term in 2024.
 
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he was defeated by DMK's A Raja in the Nilgris constituency with a margin of 240,585 votes.
