OPaL, Torrent ink power supply agreement
Under the MoU, Torrent will supply 350-400 mw to ONGC-promoted company's Dahej plant.
As part of the agreement, Torrent Power will supply 350-400 mw to ONGC's upcoming petrochemical complex at Dahej SEZ. It may be mentioned here that OPaL is setting up a petrochemicals complex at Dahej.
The Gujarat government has designated Torrent Power as a co-developer for generation and distribution of power in Dahej Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Torrent Power has incorporated Torrent Energy to implement a 1,500 mw liquefied natural gas (LNG)-based power plant in Dahej SEZ.
According to an official release, the first phase of the gas-based power plant being set up by Torrent Energy will be commissioned by 2011-12.
As per the MoU, Torrent will provide OPaL with sustained power supply, in synchronization with OPaL's planned commissioning of its petrochemicals complex.
