IITians reach out to other tech bodies

| And with an aim to introduce several such innovative methods in the Indian education sector, the IIT Alumni 2006 Global Conference will be held in Mumbai between December 23 and 25. |
| The theme of the event is 'Inspire IITians to involve and transform India'. A three-day event, it is expected to draw participation from over 5,000 IITians across the globe. |
| Topics like 'Building India into a Knowledge Economy', 'Getting the governance you want', 'Learning from successful entrepreneurs' et al will be covered in a series of sessions at the event. |
| Speakers at the event inlcude Sam Pitroda, Nandan Nilekani, Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor, Arvind Kejriwal, Manohar Parikar, Ashok Ganguly and S Sivakumar. |
| "IITians have always been known for their professionalism, intelligence and go-getting attitude. The IIT Alumni 2006 Global Conference primarily focuses on inspiring IITians to involve in a movement for giving back to the nation and networking with Alumni," says Ashank Desai, chairman, Mastek and also chairman -Pan IIT 2006 committee. |
| PanIIT is the global alumni association having local chapters in US, India, EU, Japan, Canada, Australia and Singapore. PanIIT plans to have a permanent secretariat in India to look after the initiatives it will take up with a secretary general and a core group that will work on funding and other initiatives on nation building like rural entrepreneurship, education, et al. |
| "We would like politicians and academia to be involved and help us reach our goals. In some cases IITians will plan some initiatives and take them up and in other cases we would like the government to come forward and extend a helping hand," said Desai. The eventis not only open to IITians but their spouses too . |
