Ashok Leyland moved up 4.4 per cent to Rs 56.40 on reports that the company sold 6,340 vehicles in December 2007, up 8 per cent from 5,873 units a year earlier.
 
The company's domestic sales rose 2 per cent to 5,488 units in December 2007 from 5,396 units in December 2006. Exports rose to 852 units in December 2007 from 477 units December 2006.
 
The scrip had outperformed the market in the one month till 4 January 2008, adding 5.78 per cent as against the Sensex's rise of 4.50 per cent.
