Continuing his tirade against the grand alliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described his rally at Bhabua as a festival to wake Bihar from its slumber and asked the people of the state not to cast their votes for the shameless.

Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing a rally at Bhabua, took a jibe at the grand alliance for approaching the Election Commission with their demand that his scheduled programmes in the poll-bound state be cancelled.

"This is not a rally, it is a surge. This is a fair to wake Bihar. Now, I know why I was not being allowed to come to Bhabua, the large gathering here is the reason," he said, adding that the present government in the state will have to leave now.

Prime Minister Modi further said that he could sense some conspiracy in the poll-bound state.

"I have a feeling that some conspiracy is brewing in this region and I request the Election Commission to take note. I would request the Election Commission to keep special arrangements in the area before polling," he said.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed confidence that the people would vote for the BJP this time as they are upset with the 25-year rule of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

"I was extremely delighted to hear that the people, who were going to cast their votes, were of the opinion that they want development," Prime Minister Modi said.

"If you cheat the people then they would never forgive you," he added.

In the first phase of Bihar assembly polls, around 40 percent electorates exercised their right of franchise during the first six hours of voting till 1 pm.

Polling is continuing peacefully amid tight security arrangements.
