The family members and relatives of cricketers Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami celebrated Team India's convincing 76-run victory over Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval in Australia on Sunday.

Expressing his delight at the team's performance in their opening match of the tournament, fast bowler Umesh Yadav's father Tilak Yadav said that the side would continue winning.

"I am very happy. They are playing for country, they will continue winning," he said.

The friends and relatives of medium-pacer Mohammed Shami gathered at his residence in Moradabad and distributed sweets to celebrate the stunning win.

"I am extremely delighted, I am feeling happier than what I feel during the Eid," said Shami's relative.

"We are proud that our neighbour is playing so well, he will do better," said opener Shikhar Dhawan's neighbour.

Earlier in the day, India kicked off their World Cup campaign by beating Misbah-ul Haq-led side by 76 runs to keep their record of never losing to Pakistan in a World Cup tournament intact.

Man of the Match Virat Kohli's splendid ton helped India put up a 301-run target for Pakistan.

Kohli put up a 129 run second-wicket partnership with opener Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 73, then went on to put up a third-wicket partnership of 110 runs with Suresh Raina, who hit 74 runs off 56 deliveries.

India, which is placed in Pool B of the tournament, plays its next match against South Africa on February 22.
