Left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra, who made his international comeback after a lengthy gap of four years in the recently-concluded Twenty20 series against Australia, has expressed that he was eager to assume the tough role of a death bowler in next month's World T20 in India.
"I would love to do that job. Those are tough overs to bowl, and if the captain wants me to bowl in the first six and final overs, that means I am bowling well. I have done that in the IPL under the same captain (Mahendra Singh Dhoni)," Nehra told BCCI.TV.
The 36-year-old seasoned bowler, who played a vital role during India victorious 2011 World Cup campaign, was surprising dropped from the national squad after the conclusion of the 50-over tournament.
However, in an outstanding display of resilience, the injury-prone Nehra displayed tremendous consistency at the domestic level and the 2015 Indian Premier League, where he grabbed 22 wickets in 16 games, to stake his claim in the national squad.
"Whoever plays domestic cricket, their goal is to play for India. For me, playing for India after a gap of four years is an amazing feeling," added Nehra, who wishes to be a part of another World Cup-lifting squad in the upcoming pinnacle event.
