Kapur, who was on September 18 granted interim bail till today, surrendered before the court and the Crime Branch of Delhi Police sought his custody for one more day.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Gautam Manan, however, remanded Kapur in judicial custody brushing aside the police plea.

The court also listed Kapur's bail plea for hearing on September 24.

During the hearing, Public Prosecutor Rajeev Mohan sought a day's police custody of Kapur saying he is required to be confronted with various documents which were collected during the investigation.

The prosecutor said they are yet to interrogate some other persons in connection with the case and Kapur needs to be confronted with them.

Kapur was arrested after he had surrendered before the court on September 15 in the case lodged on July 30 on the allegation that he had managed to get a job in the CWG OC in July 2009 by using a fake degree of Delhi University showing him to be a 1994 graduate.

According to the police, Kapur was also employed with the Tourism and Women and Child Welfare ministries and was also associated with the National Security Council.

The Crime Branch of Delhi police had registered an FIR against Kapur under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC for his alleged role in the case.
