Panel to be constituted to study relevance of law, says MP CM

Taking a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said has said that a committee would be constituted to study laws which have no relevance today.
"We have decided to constitute a committee to study those laws in consultation with various departments of the government to know whether they are relevant today or not and submit its report to the government soon," Chouhan told reporters after two-day-long deliberations titled 'Manthan-2014' with ministers and officials here today.
The committee would interact with various departments to find out such laws in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Chouhan said the state has also decided to constitute a Committee of Council of Ministers on a permanent basis for the purpose of administrative reforms which would be a continuous process.

He also said that the credit rating of Madhya Pradesh has moved to the 'A' category on par with Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra which would enable state government-owned companies to borrow directly from the market.
"In the first phase, these companies will generate Rs 10,000 crore from the market," he said. He also informed that a GIS-based database of MP's resources in the field of forest, water, minerals and crops would be prepared and a separate authority would be set up for their utilisation.

The purchase system of government offices would be made more transparent and cost effective by forming a dedicated state portal.

During 'Manthan-2014' deliberations, a number of other suggestions were also made including making "moral science" a part of school syllabus and building toilets in all schools.
To promote quality education, 'Good Handwriting Day and Book Reading Day' would be organised in schools, he said.
