Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty continues to decline as tariff tensions weigh on market sentiment. Additionally, participants are awaiting CPI data from both India and the US, which is further dampening overall sentiment. Technically, the index slipped towards 25,000 on an intraday basis, which is very close to the 50-DMA. On the lower end, support is placed at 24,900–24,950. If this zone holds, a rally towards 25,350 looks possible. However, failure to sustain above 24,900 may trigger a deeper phase of correction.

Despite the negative close, some pockets such as select banking and pharmaceutical stocks showed resilience, but their gains were insufficient to offset the broad market weakness. The market breadth was skewed towards declines, reflecting a risk-off sentiment among investors amid mixed earnings results and geopolitical uncertainties.

Stock Markets LIVE Updates: The first half of calendar year 2025 saw Indian benchmark indices rallying up to 10 per cent. This surge, according to Emkay Global Financial, has pushed the valuations out of the ‘attractive’ territory and has left little room for further re-rating. 

 

Most indices (Nifty50/BSE200/Small-and-midcap) are trading in a range between their long-term average (LTA) and above plus one standard deviation (+1sd), with the BSE200 and Midcap indices trading at the highest premium. 

 

Emkay notes that 34 per cent of its tracked universe—comprising over 500 companies covered by at least five analysts—are currently trading at +1sd above their long-term mean. This is up from 11 per cent in March 2025, though still below the September 2024 peak of 44 per cent.
