In under nine months since commencing commercial operations, Adani Group's Vizhinjam International Seaport has achieved a significant milestone of handling over 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The achievement by the port operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) not only surpasses initial projections but has also redefined India's maritime map. At a ceremony held at the port to commemorate the milestone, Kerala's Minister for Ports V N Vasavan said the Vizhinjam Port had handled 1 million TEUs within just nine months of beginning commercial operations. "This is a proud moment for Kerala and India as an emerging maritime power." Second phase of the port project will begin soon, he said adding railway and road connectivity will also be built soon. Launched on December 3, 2024, Vizhinjam has already welcomed over 460 vessels, including 26 ultra large container vessels (ULCVs) measuring up to 399.99 metres. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) -- part of the Adani Group -- on Tuesday said billionaire Gautam Adani has been redesignated from executive chairman to non-executive chairman with immediate effect. APSEZ in an regulatory filing said, based on the recommendation of nomination and remuneration committee, the board has approved redesignation of Gautam Adani from executive chairman to non-executive chairman with effect from August 5, and consequently he would cease to be a key managerial personnel of the company. The company appointed Manish Kejriwal as additional director (non-executive, independent) of the company for an initial term of three years from August 5, subject to the approval of shareholders within three months. APSEZ is part of the globally diversified Adani Group, with a national footprint of 15 ports and a presence in four ports outside India.
Exports from Indore's Special Economic Zone (SEZ) fell by about 6.50 per cent to Rs 9,766.53 crore in the first nine months of 2024-25 due to a decrease in orders from pharmaceutical units, an official said. The Union Commerce and Industry Ministry official on Friday said that this SEZ, which has factories for different products, had exported products worth about Rs 10,449 crore between April and December in the financial year 2023-24. He said that medicines account for about 70 per cent of the exports from Indore SEZ. The official said that 59 plants in different sectors including medicine, packaging material, engineering, textile manufacturing and food processing are running in Indore SEZ spread over 572 hectares. Of these, 22 units are from the pharmaceutical sector alone.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) on Wednesday said it has signed a concession agreement with DPA to develop Berth No 13 at Deendayal Port, Kandla, Gujarat. APSEZ has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal Limited (DPACCCTL), that will carry out operations at the berth, it said in a statement. Berth will handle multipurpose cargo and is expected to be commissioned in FY27. In July 2024, APSEZ had received the LOI for the development, operation and maintenance of the berth for a 30-year concession period. According to the statement, APSEZ will develop the berth under DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) model for multipurpose clean cargo, including container cargo. Berth No. 13 is 300 metres long and offers 5.7 MMT capacity annually. It is likely to be commissioned in FY27.
