MSMEs, startups urged to meet ₹50K cr defence exports target: MoS Defence

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Friday urged MSMEs and startups to work hard to meet the new target of Rs 50,000 cr defence exports. He was addressing the inaugural of the three-day East Tech symposium here. "The country's new target for defence exports is Rs 50,000 crore, and to achieve this goal, the country's MSMEs and startups will have to work hard. Today, 16,000 MSMEs are associated with the Ministry of Defence. This number should increase, and the youth of Jharkhand should also join, he said. Reliance Infrastructure targets Rs 3,000 crore defence exports in 2 years

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, the flagship company of Anil Ambani's Reliance Group, is targeting Rs 3,000 crore from the export of 155 mm ammunition and aggregates by the end of financial year 2027, sources said. In the current year itself, the company is estimated to export Rs 1,500 crore of large calibre ammunition. Reliance Infrastructure has already clocked exports of up to Rs 100 crore of artillery ammunition and aggregates and is aiming to be among the top three exporters of defence equipment in India, sources aware of the matter said. The key export market for Reliance includes countries in the European Union, focusing on large restocking demand for artillery ammunition. According to the experts, the market size for restocking is estimated at Rs 4,00,000 crore. Sources said Reliance has been able to make inroads in the highly competitive markets of the European Union and South East Asia. India's defence exports surge to record Rs 23,622 crore in 2024-25: Rajnath

India's defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore (approx. USD 2.76 billion) in 2024-25 registering a 12.04 per cent growth over the previous fiscal, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday. Singh also said that the country is poised to achieve the target of Rs 50,000 crore in defence exports by 2029. India's defence exports in 2023-24 were Rs 21,083 crore. "India's defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore in the FY 2024-25," the defence minister said on 'X'. "An impressive growth of Rs 2,539 crore or 12.04% has been registered in the just-concluded FY over the defence exports figures of FY 2023-24, which were Rs 21,083 crore," he added. India's defence exports crossed record Rs 21,000 cr over decade: Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that India's defence exports have crossed a record Rs 21,000 crore from Rs 2,000 crore a decade ago. Addressing officers at the Army War College (AWC) in more than two-centuries-old Mhow Cantonment, Singh said a target has been set to achieve defence exports of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029. He said mastering frontier technologies is the need of the hour in the constantly evolving times, noting that military training centres are playing a crucial role in equipping and readying soldiers to deal with future challenges. President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said the time is now ripe for launching a new phase of self-reliance in defence production by manufacturing technologically advanced equipment within the country.
