Traffic diversions in central Delhi for Indian Navy Half Marathon today

Traffic movement will be regulated and diversions imposed on several key roads in the national capital on Sunday when the Indian Navy Half Marathon is scheduled to be held, Delhi Traffic Police said in an advisory. The event, being organised to promote fitness, a healthy lifestyle and camaraderie between the armed forces and common people, is expected to see participation of around 15,000 runners. The marathon will be flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium at 5 am on February 1. According to the advisory, traffic movement on designated routes will be regulated from 4.45 am to 9 am. Emergency vehicles will be allowed uninterrupted passage, while cross traffic will be permitted depending on crowd density. Traffic restrictions in Delhi today for Guru Ravidas Jayanti procession

Traffic movement in parts of central and north Delhi is likely to be affected on February 1 in view of a Shobha Yatra on the occasion of the 649th Jayanti of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, Delhi Traffic Police said in an advisory. The procession will be carried out by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Janmotsav Committee (Regd.) and will start from Red Fort ground at 2.30 pm and is expected to conclude around 8 pm at Guru Ravidas Mandir, P&T Colony, Guru Ravidas Marg, officials said. According to the advisory, the yatra will pass through Chandni Chowk, Fatehpuri, Khari Baoli, Sadar Bazar, Bara Tooti Chowk, Pahari Dheeraj, Bara Hindu Rao and DBG Road before reaching the concluding point. Martyr's Day: Traffic restrictions, diversions in parts of Delhi today

Traffic restrictions and diversions will be put in place in parts of central Delhi on January 30 in view of an official function at Rajghat on the occasion of Martyr's Day, police said on Thursday. The function will be held at Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Sthal at Rajghat and is expected to be attended by several dignitaries, prompting elaborate security and traffic arrangements in the area, an advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police said. Traffic restrictions will be in force at several locations in New Delhi on Wednesday in connection with rehearsals for the Beating Retreat ceremony at and around Vijay Chowk, the Delhi Traffic Police said. According to the advisory, the restrictions will be enforced from 4 pm to 6 pm on January 28. Vijay Chowk will remain closed for general traffic during the period. Traffic restrictions will be in force in parts of the city on Tuesday in view of the full dress rehearsal of the Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk, the Delhi Traffic Police said. Over 2,100 challans issued in Delhi Traffic Police's Jan 16 crackdown

Delhi Traffic Police issued 2,175 challans and impounded 23 vehicles during a special enforcement drive against traffic violations conducted across six major locations in the capital, an officer said on Saturday. The "zero-tolerance" drive was carried out on January 16, simultaneously at Anand Vihar ISBT, J B Tito Marg, Azadpur Mandi Chowk, Teen Murti Roundabout, Dwarka Mor on Najafgarh Road and Bikaner Chowk in Karol Bagh, he said. "The enforcement focused on violations such as improper parking, stop-line violations, wrong-side driving, no-entry violations and permit-related offences, which are considered major contributors to congestion and road safety risks," Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Monika Bhardwaj said. The police impounded 23 vehicles for serious violations during the drive. The intensified enforcement led to an improvement in traffic flow at the locations, the officer said, adding that similar enforcement drives will continue over the next seven days.

Delhi: Traffic curbs on Jan 17, 19, 20, 21 for Republic Day rehearsals

Traffic movement will be restricted at several key crossings in Delhi on January 17, 19, 20 and 21 due to rehearsals for the Republic Day parade along Kartavya Path, police said on Friday. Delhi sees 56% spike in drunken driving challans on New Year's Eve

The Delhi Traffic Police issued 868 challans for drunken driving on New Year's Eve, marking an increase of about 56 per cent over last year when 558 motorists were booked for the offence, officials said on Thursday. "The rise of 56 per cent underscores intensified enforcement and wider deployment of traffic personnel across the national capital during celebrations," a senior officer of the Delhi Traffic Police said. He said that special enforcement teams were stationed on arterial roads, near nightlife hubs and in residential clusters to curb drunken driving, speeding, motorcycle stunts and other dangerous violations. The Delhi Traffic Police has imposed fines of over Rs 84.98 crore for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate violations during GRAP stages one and two from October 14 to November 18, officials said. The amount corresponds to 84,981 challans according to official data accessed by PTI, each carrying a penalty of Rs 10,000.
