Toyota Kirloskar Motor is recalling 11,529 units of its mid-sized SUV Urban Cruiser Hyryder to inspect and replace a dashboard component. The voluntary recall campaign is to inspect and replace the Combination Meter, if found faulty, in 11,529 units manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. In line with its customer first philosophy and unwavering commitment to the highest quality standards, the automaker will continue to promptly address customer concerns and aim to deliver peace of mind by resolving issues quickly and conveniently, TKM said in a post on its Website. Toyota dealer representatives will contact affected customers, it added. In October, the company recalled Camry, Vellfire and Land Cruiser to reprogramme the Parking Assist ECU software.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Sunday said its sales increased 22 per cent year-on-year to 30,864 units in May. The company's wholesales to dealers in the domestic market stood at 29,280 units last month while exports were at 1,584 units. In May 2024, TKM had sold a total of 25,273 units. "With the onset of monsoon and forecasts indicating a normal to above-normal season, we remain optimistic about improved market sentiment in the coming months, particularly across rural and semi-urban regions," Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said in a statement. With this, backed by vast product portfolio and innovative campaigns, the company is well-positioned to maintain the growth trajectory, he added.
Toyota doubled its net profit in the fiscal year that ended in March, as strong vehicles sales and a favorable exchange rate lifted results for Japan's top automaker. Toyota Motor Corp.'s annual profit totaled 4.9 trillion yen ($31.9 billion), up from 2.45 trillion yen the year before, while its sales jumped 21% to 45 trillion yen ($290 billion), the company said Wednesday. Sales of hybrids performed well, although Toyota stressed it was working hard to offer various kinds of electric vehicles, including battery EVs, plug-ins and fuel cell models. Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Thursday reported its highest-ever monthly wholesales in January with dispatch of 24,609 units, an increase of 92 per cent over same month last year. The automaker had dispatched a total of 12,835 units to dealers in January last year. Last month the company sold 23,197 units in the domestic market. It also exported 1,412 units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO), a company affiliated with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), on January 29, 2024, announced that irregularities in horsepower output certification tests were found on three diesel engine models. In case of India, such engines are used in Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Hilux. "The irregularities concern the smoothing of power and torque curves but did not lead to any over-stating or over-claims on horsepower, torque or other powertrain related values," a Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) spokesperson said in a statement when contacted over the issue. Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Wednesday said it expects to continue the strong momentum next year after closing 2023 with record sales as rising demand from tier II and III markets is slated to fuel further growth. The company is set for a record year in terms of sales in 2023. It has already clocked a total of 2,10,479 units in the January-November period of 2023, beating the previous highest yearly sales of 1.72 lakh units in 2012. Japanese transport ministry officials inspected Toyota subsidiary Daihatsu on Thursday, one day after officials announced it was suspending the small car unit's shipments of all vehicles in and outside Japan after an investigation found improper testing involving 64 models.
