MIT Pune's MIT School of Telecom Management (MITSOT) Pune has signed an memorandum of association (MoU) with NSDC's Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC)- a Government of India Undertaking to launch unique programs for the first time in India.
This is the First kind of it's initiative with the academic Institution across the country. Under this, the programs are in the form of short term courses including territory sales manager (prepaid), sales executive (broadband) and territory sales manager (prepaid).
The duration of these courses will be in the range of 3-6 months and will start from January 2014 onwards. Each batch will accommodate 30 students,

Speaking on the occasion J Jena, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council said, "Telecom sector has emerged as the second largest & fastest growing telecom market in the world registering a consistent overall growth rate of more than 35 per cent over the past decade in terms of subscribers. By next ten years we have to train around 5 million people in the telecom segment and in two years, because the first phase will be little slow as we have to build up all the processes, may be around a lakh of population will be skilled up."
TSSC has also signed an MoU with Business Skills Australia (IBSA) and E-Oz Energy Skills Australia (E-Oz) in April this year.
Milind Pande, Project Director MIT said, said. "The faculties will be trained under the "Train the trainer program". We recently had a meet of distributors and handset retailers organized by MITSOT in Pune. Under the MoU we can also help in up scaling and rescaling the skills of existing professionals through these courses which will go a long way in bridging the need -gap requirement."
TSSC is a Non-Profit Organization, and an industry led apex body, jointly set up by The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Indian Cellular Association (ICA) & Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) to ensure adequate availability of skilled manpower to boost growth and productivity in the Telecom Sector.
