Leading FM brand Radio City is expanding in Uttar Pradesh with the launch of its station in Kanpur by mid September 2016.
Currently, Radio City operates in five UP cities in the state viz. Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Bareilly and Gorakhpur, company's EVP & national programming director Kartik Kalla said here.
According to a latest survey poll by AZ Research, Radio City reaches 12.7 million listeners in North India with Lucknow having listener-ship of 1.6 million.
Currently, the company has 39 stations under 'Radio City' brand, which includes 11 stations acquired in Phase III auctions.
In Phase III expansion, Radio City is launching 11 new stations in Kanpur, Patiala, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, Nasik, Kolhapur, Udaipur and Madurai, he said adding these would materialise in 3-4 months.

The poll had put Radio City at the top position with a listener-ship of 47 million crore in the country.
The survey poll had also revealed that the highest consumption of FM radio was through mobile phones at 71 percent followed by radio sets 53 percent and web 21 percent.
Radio City, now a subsidiary of Jagran Prakashan Limited, was the country's first FM radio brand when it started operating in 2001 from Bangalore.
