Guj Polls: Cong vice-president joins BJP

In a setback to the Gujarat Congress, one of its Vice President's and Senior Functionary Girish Parmar on Wednesday joined the BJP. Besides Parmar, other Congress members also formally joined the saffron party at a function held in Ahmedabad.

Parmar had tendered his resignation from the Congress a day after the party released its first list of 52 candidates for the assembly polls earlier this month. He and other senior members were opposed to the allocation of tickets by the party and had opposed the moved by shouting slogans at the party headquarters.

In the past, Parmar has held important posts in the Congress and was also party spokesperson for a while.
