JIPMER opens application process for MD, MS courses

Last date to apply online is October 26, 2016

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry has invited applicants for admission to Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) programmes for the session January 2017. According to a latest notification, the eligible candidates can apply online latest by October 26, 2016.

MD/MS courses
 

JIPMER has announced as many as 102 seats for different specialisations. Of the total seats, 92 are for Indian Nationals/OCI and five for sponsored candidates and foreign nationals. Of this, 71 are for MD and 31 for MS candidates. The exam will be held on December 11, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The candidates will be selected on the basis of the written test.

Eligibility criteria

Interested applicant should have a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Candidate must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating internship/practical training on or before December 31, 2016. Those who have not completing the internship on or before December 31, 2016 cannot apply for January 2017 session. The candidate must be registered with Central / State Medical Registration Council

Candidates who have already done / completed MD/MS in any subject in any Institution are not eligible for admission to MD/MS course at JIPMER.

Application and selection

General candidates need to pay Rs. 1200, while the SC/ST candidates Rs. 800 through net banking to apply for the entrance test. Orthopedic physically challenged (OPH) candidates are exempted from the application fee. Applicants can download the admit cards/ hall ticket from 11:00 AM on November 16, 2016 to 8:00 AM on December 11, 2016. 

All seats would be filled through competitive entrance examination to be conducted by JIPMER on 11th December 2016 (Sunday) 9.00 AM to 12 Noon. Selection will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.
