The Australian women's hockey team humiliated their Indian counterparts, scoring a 6-1 victory over them at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday.
The India team, which drew 2-2 with Japan and went down 0-3 to Britain before coming into this match, lost a very one-sided tussle in the match it played today.
Australia's first goal came in the seventh minute, with Slattery going past the Indian defence to give her country the lead. Sixteen minutes into the game, Georgina Morgan converted a penalty corner to take the Kangaroos 2-0 ahead. While Claxton extended the lead to 3-0, a self goal by India's Sunita put her team 0-4 behind the Aussies.
Jodie Kenny then rubbed salt into India's wounds, scoring two goals in a span of five minutes.
It was a consolation goal for the Indian eves, when Anuradha scored the solitary goal for India, after the team from Down Under already had six on the board against its name.
