The Hindu announces early retirement scheme

This is open for all permanent employees, who have completed around 10 years of service

The Hindu, one of the country's largest newspapers, has announced early retirement scheme for its employees.

While the management was not available for comment, circular shows its a Special Early Retirement Scheme based on inputs from various employees and functional heads. This isn't a voluntary retirement scheme.

"The purpose of the scheme is to improve productivity across various levels to build an organisation of tomorrow and provide an excellent limited-period opportunity for employees, who are keen to pursue their other interests/ passions," said the publication.

This is open for all permanent employees, who have completed around 10 years of service as on October 1, 2017. Employees retiring during the year till end March, 2016 share not be part of the scheme. The scheme will not be applicable for employees who have opted for retirement or serving notice period on or before October 25, 2017.

Various benefits and tax benefits plus monthly ex-gratia will be given for next five years and medical support will also be given for next five years for staff and their family.
