Cong walkout on power shortage issue

After Question Hour, Congress member Asit Mal moved an adjournemt motion saying that the power deficit had reached 1,000 Mw last evening.

This has affected the common man as also facilities like hospitals. The power minister has failed to assure the people that the situation would improve in the near future.     

Having read the motion, Mal wanted a discussion on it, including a statement from the chief minister.

 

Both demands were turned down by Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim at which the Congress members walked out of the House.     

The Speaker, however, asked the power minister to give a reply at a later date.
