Press Trust of India New Delhi
Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) have been asked to investigate alleged corruption related to the Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Plaza operated by DSC Ltd.

According to sources, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had written to EOW to investigate the issue, saying there is substantive corruption in the case.

They added that the SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) for the Gurgaon Toll diverted funds to the parent company through the escrow account which is an economic offence.

The Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Plaza is on the border between Delhi and Gurgaon.

When contacted, Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW) Praveer Ranjan said: "Yes the matter has been referred to us and we are examining it."

When contacted, the company declined to comment.

Sources said there is also aproblem of under-reporting of toll.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is the guarantor in the project.

Last year, DSC Ltd received termination notices from NHAI after users complained of inordinate delays at the toll plaza.

The company had then approached high court against NHAI's termination notice which had stayed the implementation of the notice.

IDFC -- lead lender of the Gurgaon Toll -- which had earlier that it would pick up stake in the project, is believed to have decided against it.

Road Ministry is likely to take over Gurgaon Toll Plaza from its current developer DS Construction.
