EC assesses poll preparedness in Gujarat

The Election Commission of India on Monday held meeting with collectors and superintendents of police of each district to assess the preparedness and security ahead of the assembly polls in the Gujarat in December.
Deputy election commissioner Vinod Zutshi and Gujarat chief electoral officer (CEC) Anita Karwal reviewed the preparedness with regard to administrative requirements and law and order during the meeting with the senior officers of each districts.
According to sources it learnt that the collectors and police officers have been asked to keep a vigil on the political parties and strictly implement the model code of conduct that is in force in the state. The elections in Gujarat is scheduled for December 13 and 17, while the counting will take place on December 20.
