Lashing out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah for his statement that “Pakistan will celebrate if the Mahagathbandhan wins in Bihar”, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad on Friday said the “narbhakshi” had finally gone around the bend and, in doing so, had against insulted Bihar.

“BJP’s narbhakshi (cannibal) Amit Shah has gone mad. He said in a speech yesterday that Pakistan would celebrate if the Mahagathbandhan won the Assembly elections. Once again, he has managed to insult the people of Bihar, but this time it has gone below the belt,” Prasad told the media.

Here are a few important statements of Shah and Prasad:

Insult to Biharis

Prasad accused Shah of insulting nearly 110 million Biharis by saying firecrackers would be burst for celebration in Pakistan if BJP lost in the Bihar Assembly polls. He added that an RJD delegation, led by party spokesperson Manoj Jha, would go to the Election Commission on Friday to protest against Shah’s speech and demand that strict action be taken against him.

The Pakistan remark

On Shah’s Pakistani celebration remarks, made at a rally in Raxaul on Thursday, Prasad said it was not a cricket match between India and Pakistan that firecrackers would burst if India was defeated. “BJP is not India and Bihar is not Pakistan.”

On RJD strongman Shahabuddin

The BJP president had further said the jailed criminal-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin would benefit the most if a government led by Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad came to power in Bihar. Shahabuddin, a former parliamentarian, is currently lodged in Bhagalpur Central Jail.

Soft on terrorists

BJP had also placed front-page advertisements in local newspapers targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government for going ‘soft on terrorists’ and not taking strict action at the time of arrest of Indian Mujahideen leader Yasin Bhatkal.

The war of barbs

Two separate FIRs were filed earlier against Prasad for his use of the word “Narbhakshi” (cannibal) against Shah. The ‘narbhakshi’ barb came on October 1 in reaction to the latter’s ‘chara chor’ (fodder thief) remark about him in Patna while talking to mediapersons.

“A Narbhakshi and an exiled person should not teach good conduct to Bihar. First, he should tell people about his own misdeeds and stringent sections pressed against him.” The RJD chief had tweeted on September 30.
