Secretary's visit to United Arab Emirates 14-17 October 2015

Shri A.K. Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, is visiting UAE from 14-17 October 2015. During the visit he will discuss issues pertaining to the recruitment and employment of Indian workers with senior officials in the Ministry of Labour, Government of UAE. The itinerary would include a visit to the Indian Workers Resource Centre (IWRC) in Dubai which is run by the Indian Embassy in UAE to provide information, guidance and counseling to Indian Nationals in distress, through a 24 x 7 helpline and a walk-in counseling centre.

The Secretary will call on H.E. Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Government of UAE along with visiting the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) and a Labour Camp in Sharjah to meet Indian workers. He will meet Foreign Employers who recruit Indian workers for employment in UAE and will interact with representatives of registered Indian Associations in UAE to brief them about the Ministry's initiatives and schemes for engagement with the Indian Diaspora. He will also lead the efforts of this Ministry to seek a proactive and sustained engagement with the Indian Diaspora and encourage them to contribute to the social and development programmes in India through the India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians (IDF-OI) (a not-for-profit Trust set up by this Ministry).

The Secretary will be accompanied by a business delegation under the aegis of Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC) which has been set-up by this Ministry in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). At an event organized by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) in Dubai, the Secretary and the OIFC delegation will interact with prominent overseas Indian investors and businessmen based in UAE and invite them to participate in India's economic growth.

This visit to UAE is being coordinated by the Embassy of India in UAE and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
