Dear Students,
LAST WEEK WE ASKED: Do you think manifestos of political parties have been elaborate enough on issues like education and employment?
BEST RESPONSE
Election manifestos evaluate a lot what was wrong of earlier policies and aids in steering future policy. India's mammoth population has varying levels of literacy, poverty and political awareness. An NSSO study regarding unemployment showed those with secondary and higher secondary education were worst-affected. About 285 million fall in the category of 15-29 age group and lack the required skill for a job. These youngsters who are the future of India and have a greater influence on formation of next government, thus it become mandatory for the political party to emphasis on employment and education.

OTHER RESPONSES
Both the main parties Congress and BJP did not put any substantial views on areas like education and employment in their manifestos . Congress losing their vote share promises to provide job to 10 crore people but from the past experience there are questions related to their credibility to achieve this while on other hand BJP also promises million jobs but failed to explain their agenda to achieve that. Both the parties seems to forget to pick education sector and have come down on communalism by bringing reservations in private sector.

Many political parties have elaborated enough in their manifesto about the education and employment. As political parties are well informed about India's being the largest young force in the country, they are marketing themselves to be the only option which can give youth and children education.National parties like BJP have mentioned about basic education, higher education & vocational training programmes given a chance to lead the country. Similarly, Congress has promised to to create more jobs with better infrastructure facility. Political parties are well researched with the need of the youth and this things are available in their manifesto.

Manifestos of political parties are simply proposals, which declare the intentions, motives, or views of the issuer, with the objective of attracting the voters. In a developing country like India, lack of education and unemployment are the root cause of every problem and the same directly affects a very large number of population. Elaborated manifestos facilitates the political parties to puzzle this very population, as the opposition parties to present the performance of ruling party as failure, while the same ruling party tries to reflect the same as a grand success.

With blazing manifestos briefly touching up on peculiarities for growth teamed under education & employment, the parties are least bothered it seems. Education & strong opportunities for employment is the backbone for any economic transformation and political parties are not likely to be concerned about either investment or raising bright prospects in these domains. With the 'FDI' in context of garnering employment and 'quality education' in terms of training and nurturing talent, it is quite evident that the people are being lured into getting influenced and then voting for the favored party. Corruption wins the battle on the manifesto front.

All political parties have mentioned 'education and employment' in their manifesto but with vague manner. Their manifestos say about to abstain fee hike but not telling how much. Mere 10-20 lines manifesto can't clear about their soul objectives. It must be clear cut. Same rule applied for employment, they must depict employment in exact way, not by introducing schemes to foster scams. Though we know both factors are 'cream' for attracting voters towards them, they don’t forget to mention. Some parties try to follow as per their manifesto but it's like drama show and then no maintenance at all.

Manifestos of none of the political party is elaborate enough on education and employment. All political parties have superficially given attention to education and employment. These two issue are the root cause of all the problem. All political party just does rhetoric only. What is require is elaborate details on education and employment issue. The detail must answer question like why, how, what etc.

Almost all parties support the Right to Education bill but their manifestos say nothing about curing the fundamental infirmities it suffers from. BJP manifesto affords to the temptation of using online as a cure-all and promises massive open online courses (MOOCs) as a way to impart vocational education. Parallel improvement in skill development and project clearance would lead to generate more jobs. Though, BJP has mentioned that by removing policy paralysis, encouraging and empowering youth for self-employment it would fill the gap of employment.

The manifestos of political parties have been quite well summarized covering numerous aspects with equal emphasis on wide range of issues. Keeping in mind, education and employment matters to every household of country, political parties have reasonably displayed their intentions about future prospects. It tends to focus on drastically improving quality of education along with sustaining higher growth rate in terms of employment. It is these aspects which if effectively controlled and managed can completely transform the lives of each and every citizen of our country.
