Dear Students,
LAST WEEK WE ASKED: Do you think research tie-ups with global institutes would help Indian B-schools garner better rankings?
BEST RESPONSE
Research outside India is undoubtedly more dynamic and progressive. In India, we lack the fine skill of putting our work before our personal commitments which primarily leads to the huge chunk of investment not reflecting the desired results. A collaboration will help an Indian B-school develop modern research techniques which are more holistic and take into account varied parameters for a wholesome result, explore innovative thinking styles which will enhance the quality of the outcome, promote use of advanced software for data collection and optimum analysis and closely understand what factors majorly distinguishes them from us.
- Saumik P. Batham, College of Legal Studies, UPES.
OTHER RESPONSES
India is in dire need of the research environment. Many of the top Indian university lack global repute because they lack in Research and Development. Tie-ups with global institutes would help Indian B-schools not only garner better rankings but also inculcating innovative and entrepreneurial culture. This will help us in developing indigenous organization like Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc.
- Nilaya Mitash Shanker, IIT Roorkee.
The building of research tie ups is just a stepping stone for long haul of concerted efforts towards progress. It totally rests with Indian B-schools on how effectively they utilize this crucial opportunity to prove themselves on the global arena. Having support base of few eminent world class institutes implies absolutely no dearth of resources. And successful outcome of research activities is something responsible for uplifting an institute. It is bound to improve the ranking of Indian B-schools on global ladder as until now research is what pushed back these colleges in comparison to their peer institutes around the world.
- Shivam Chhabra, Integral University, Lucknow.
Having research tie-ups with global institutes will give a boost to the high-quality research being done in the country. It will help to bring to India the best practices followed internationally. It will also provide better opportunities for Indian talent pool. Once the tie-ups are in its place the students will get the better exposure in terms of both research as well as study. This would improve the profile of the Indian B-schools internationally which will be reflected in its ratings.
- Kanchan Agrawal, IMNU, Ahmedabad.
Definitely it will have an impact on the ranking of Indian B-school in global arena. Collaboration with global institutes will help to eliminate the fundamental reason for which Indian B-school ranks poor- the quality research. The association with such global brand of institutions is always an added benefit. It will provide the necessary platform in the field of research, publication and in faculty exchange. So if India wants to improve its global rank, this is a key step toward achieving this goal.
- Arindam Garai, Regional College Of Management Autonomous, Bhubaneswar.
Research tie-ups alone won't improve the global ranking of Indian B-schools but, yes of course it'll help to a great extent. Indian B-schools should be more focused on the quality of faculties and resources to undergo research so that it gets noticed to the world. Such tie-ups help to get involved with best of skilled researchers & resources. Indian B-schools need a visibility and reports or journals of research can help enhance visibility to the whole globe. This would create impact to garner better ranking.
- Sumit Sourav, Regional College of Management , Bhubaneswar.
B-schools nowadays have become merely a source of income and are viewed as business prospects rather than means for quality education. A research tie-up with a global institute would facilitate sharing of knowledge and expertise. It builds appropriate skill and a global mindset for doing business with a global impact. The students see them as an opportunity to get a global exposure and for the institute it proves to be a cash cow. The returns for the initiative would come after a few years only in the form of good students getting good placements and hence getting better in rankings.
