Jeera prices rose by Rs 231 to Rs 15,020 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick-up in spot market demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery August rose by Rs 231, or 1.56% to Rs 15,020 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,174 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June moved up by Rs 124, or 0.88% to Rs 14,160 per quintal in 12,618 lots.

Analysts said increased buying by speculators on pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in jeera futures prices.
