Sensex firm in morning trades

The Sensex has touched a high of 16,810, and is now firm around 16,777, up 134 points.

The NSE Nifty is up 39 points at 4,984.

Reliance Infrastructure and SBI have gained 1.7% each at Rs 1,314 and Rs 2,101, respectively.

Reliance, Infosys and Bharti Airtel have added 1.5% each to Rs 2,132, Rs 2,210 and Rs 348, respectively.

Reliance Communications, TCS, Wipro, Grasim, Tata Steel, ONGC, Jaiprakash Assoicates, DLF and Maruti are also up over 1% each.

Hero Honda has shed 1.7% at Rs 1,617, and Hindalco has dropped 1.3% to Rs 127.

Tata Motors is down 1% at Rs 543.

 

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 1,352 stocks traded so far, 1,352 have advanced, 745 have declined and the rest are unchangeed.
