The AIADMK workers held special prayers for the good health of ailing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa here on Thursday and distributed food to the poor at Anand Sai Temple.

Hundreds of supporters of the ailing AIADMK supremo offered prayers at Saibaba temple for her speedy recovery. Several supporters also offered prayers outside the Apollo Hospital.

The Madras High Court today quashed a Public Interest Litigation moved by 'Traffic' K.R. Ramaswamy seeking a direction to be given to the state government to declare the health status of Jayalalithaa. The court described the petition as mere act of publicity.

Terming the PIL as a "Publicity Interest Litigation", the first Bench of Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice R. Mahadevan warned the petitioner not to use the forum for political purposes.

The court had on Tuesday asked the Tamil Nadu government to clear confusion about Jayalalithaa's health.

Jayalalithaa, 68, was admitted to Apollo Hospitals for fever and dehydration on September 22. Subsequently, Apollo Hospitals said she was cured of fever and needed to be in the hospital for observation.

"The same line of treatment is being continued. The Chief Minister is under close observation by doctors," said a brief statement from the Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday.

Jayalalithaa has been advised further stay in the hospital, it said.
