Madonna recently took the stage to pay tribute to fellow music legend Prince during an emotion-packed Billboard Music Awards Sunday night.

The 57-year-old singer, who appeared on stage on a throne wearing a glittery purple suit, opened the tribute to the late Prince with an intro of 'Let's Go Crazy' before segueing into 'Nothing Compares 2 U,' Rolling Stone reported.

Later, Stevie Wonder, sporting a purple scarf, joined the Queen of Pops to perform a duet of 'Purple Rain.'

The 'Bitch I'm Madonna' hit-makersaid after the performance, "Most of all, thank you Prince Rogers Nelson for all that you've given us."

While there were a lot of apprehensions before her performance, the tribute turned out to be a hit with a massive sing-a-long.

Earlier, Madonna teased the performance on Wednesday, posting a throwback photo of herself with the caption "Looking ahead....i see Rain in the forecast," along with the purple umbrella, praying hands, and crown emojis.

Prince died on April 21 at age 57. Even though the icons collaborated on 'Love Song' in 1989 and even briefly dated, Madonna was met with criticism online when Billboard announced she would be the one to pay homage to The Purple One.
