Now, fungus-derived antibiotic may help in fighting bacteria

A new study has confirmed potent synthesis of natural tetracycline, which is a recently discovered natural antibiotic.
Scientists at the Rice University have been successful recreated a fungus-derived antibiotic, viridicatumtoxin B, and are hopeful that it may soon help in fighting bacteria that evolve resistance to treatments in hospitals and clinics around the world.
The study focused on a tetracycline discovered in 2008 which provided a basis for the discoverers to analyze its structure through magnetic resonance imaging.
The study was published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
