Australia beat England by eight wickets in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, to inch closer to a 5-0 victory margin in ongoing Ashes Test series.

Australia made 233 for the loss of two wickets while chasing a victory target of 231. Shane Watson was unbeaten at 85, while Michael Clarke was not out at 6.

The chief architects of this test win were Chris Rogers who contributed 116 of the 231 required in the fourth innings, and Nathan Lyon who took five England wickets to fall in the third innings.

In the morning session, England captain Alastair Cook grassed two easy chances, which could have resulted in the removal of both the opening batsmen.
