William Fichtner to play General in 'Independence Day 2'

William Fichtner has hopped aboard Fox's 'Independence Day 2' as a top general.

The news comes after the 58-year-old actor joined the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' franchise, and it is said he will go on to play an even larger role in the two films that will follow., Deadline.com has reported.

The film is being directed by Roland Emmerich and his former creative partner Dean Devlin.
