Basic materials shares rise
Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 20.33 points or 0.8% at 2553.37 at 09:49 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Star Paper Mills Ltd (up 13.75%), Deccan Gold Mines Ltd (up 9.91%),Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 7.39%),Ruchira Papers Ltd (up 7.31%),N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (up 7.04%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Shree Pushkar Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (up 6.37%), Sudarshan Chemical Industries Ltd (up 5.08%), Sanghi Industries Ltd (up 5.05%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 5%), and JK Paper Ltd (up 4.96%).
On the other hand, Ganesh Benzoplast Ltd (down 3.73%), Fineotex Chemical Ltd (down 3.7%), and Shiva Cement Ltd (down 2.44%) moved lower.
At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 130.22 or 0.35% at 37401.04.
The Nifty 50 index was up 39.65 points or 0.36% at 11075.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 85.07 points or 0.66% at 12977.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 18.41 points or 0.43% at 4334.58.
On BSE,882 shares were trading in green, 261 were trading in red and 35 were unchanged.
