Basic materials stocks rise
Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 27.79 points or 1.14% at 2474.05 at 09:50 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, JBF Industries Ltd (up 4.96%), Premier Explosives Ltd (up 4.81%),Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 4.47%),Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 4.05%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 4.04%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Star Paper Mills Ltd (up 3.71%), National Peroxide Ltd (up 3.65%), Kesar Petroproducts Ltd (up 3.61%), Tata Steel BSL Ltd (up 3.6%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 3.36%).
On the other hand, Vinati Organics Ltd (down 2.91%), Ultramarine & Pigments Ltd (down 2.49%), and Oricon Enterprises Ltd (down 1.8%) turned lower.
At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 218.91 or 0.59% at 37287.84.
The Nifty 50 index was up 66.65 points or 0.61% at 11014.95.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 78.37 points or 0.63% at 12508.87.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 33.38 points or 0.79% at 4239.51.
On BSE,942 shares were trading in green, 398 were trading in red and 52 were unchanged.
