Basic materials shares gain

Basic materials stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 17.29 points or 0.71% at 2460.45 at 09:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 7%), Cheviot Company Ltd (up 6.97%),Kiri Industries Ltd (up 6.2%),JK Paper Ltd (up 5.65%),Star Paper Mills Ltd (up 5.6%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were JBF Industries Ltd (up 4.97%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd (up 4.91%), N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (up 4.8%), Ruchira Papers Ltd (up 4.62%), and TCPL Packaging Ltd (up 4.09%).

On the other hand, Deccan Gold Mines Ltd (down 6.52%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 4.69%), and Steel Exchange India Ltd (down 4.51%) moved lower.

 

At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 154.16 or 0.42% at 36798.58.

The Nifty 50 index was up 42.1 points or 0.39% at 10890.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 45.69 points or 0.37% at 12541.54.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 12.2 points or 0.29% at 4218.88.

On BSE,925 shares were trading in green, 429 were trading in red and 64 were unchanged.
