Basic materials stocks edge higher

Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 26.88 points or 1.08% at 2517.39 at 09:50 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Star Paper Mills Ltd (up 18.49%), Ruchira Papers Ltd (up 9.92%),Deccan Gold Mines Ltd (up 9.86%),Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 9.55%),Ganesh Benzoplast Ltd (up 7.95%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were JK Paper Ltd (up 7.81%), Cheviot Company Ltd (up 7.22%), N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (up 6.03%), Gujarat Borosil Ltd (up 5.78%), and West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (up 5.53%).

On the other hand, Mukand Ltd (down 3.91%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 3.45%), and Rain Industries Ltd (down 2.38%) turned lower.

 

At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 136.95 or 0.37% at 37282.4.

The Nifty 50 index was up 30.2 points or 0.27% at 11033.25.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 84.82 points or 0.67% at 12794.78.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.03 points or 0.54% at 4302.42.

On BSE,913 shares were trading in green, 302 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
