Basic materials stocks slide
Basic materials stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 47.94 points or 1.87% at 2516.63 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Ruchira Papers Ltd (down 11.81%), Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (down 9.95%),N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (down 8.79%),JK Paper Ltd (down 8.72%),Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd (down 7.39%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Shiva Cement Ltd (down 7.12%), International Paper APPM Ltd (down 6.04%), Prakash Industries Ltd (down 5.48%), Star Cement Ltd (down 5.3%), and Godrej Industries Ltd (down 5.12%).
On the other hand, Kamdhenu Ltd (up 3.82%), Neogen Chemicals Ltd (up 2.82%), and KIOCL Ltd (up 2.7%) turned up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 171.07 or 0.45% at 38134.34.
The Nifty 50 index was down 54.25 points or 0.48% at 11305.65.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 68.78 points or 0.53% at 12890.19.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 24.9 points or 0.57% at 4334.11.
On BSE,823 shares were trading in green, 1447 were trading in red and 151 were unchanged.
