Basic materials stocks slide

Basic materials stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 23.15 points or 0.87% at 2649.4 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Vedanta Ltd (down 4.69%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 4.09%),Dalmia Bharat Ltd (down 4.04%),Jayant Agro Organics Ltd (down 4.03%),Vikas Ecotech Ltd (down 4.03%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd (down 3.78%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 3.64%), Rain Industries Ltd (down 3.31%), Kamdhenu Ltd (down 3.3%), and Tata Steel Ltd (down 3.08%).

On the other hand, Excel Industries Ltd (up 7.22%), MOIL Ltd (up 6.92%), and Mukand Ltd (up 4.78%) turned up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 18.22 or 0.05% at 39007.96.

The Nifty 50 index was down 4.05 points or 0.04% at 11567.15.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 31.04 points or 0.23% at 13409.45.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 5.56 points or 0.12% at 4511.63.

On BSE,959 shares were trading in green, 1325 were trading in red and 130 were unchanged.
